Welcome to my website, Barbara Ruestow’s Studio in the Park. This is where I will feature my hand crafted jewelry. I make everything in my home Studio using Precious metals of mostly Sterling Silver (.925), Fine Silver (.999) and Gold Filled (Karat 13/20) wire. Gold Filled wire is much more durable than plated wire and allows a more competitive price point compared to gold. I embellish with quality crystals, gems, and pearls, this allows me to add color to my designs and added interest. Most of what I make are made to order and no two are exactly the same. I am also doing select shows and come with a inventory but will also take orders. Please feel free to look though my site to see the type of work that I do. My Inspiration:
After many years working in accounting, Financial Services and owning a Machine shop with my husband I finally had the time to peruse my secret goal of creating beautiful jewelry.
I was gifted a beautiful hand made bracelet by a dear friend and I not only loved the bracelet I really needed to know how it was made. It intrigued me and I found myself spending hours learning about precious metals and craftsmanship. I needed to know everything about this bracelet. I was still working at the time and did not have time to pursue my own education to be a creator YET.
After retiring I had the time, energy and drive to start this journey and I don’t think I will ever look back. I love working with precious metals; Gold Filled (karat 14/20), Silver (.999), Sterling (.925) and Bronze.
I started taking online classes at the London School of Jewelry and became addicted to many other online sources of education. Learning for me will never end because there is always a new technique, new concept, new inspiration to be investigated and developed.
My goal is that you will enjoy each piece I made as much as I love making them. It brings me such joy to create and watch a idea come to life and to create a story.
